Let’s Go Fishing Competition Round 1 Recap

Round 1 of the Let’s Go Fishing competition officially kicked off on National Gone Fishing Day and saw anglers from across South Australia hit the water in pursuit of tagged Golden Perch, Silver Perch, Murray Cod and Australian Salmon. With close to 100 tags in circulation and additional fish being added throughout the round, participants embraced the challenge and explored waterways from the Murray River and Fleurieu Peninsula to reservoirs and coastal salmon hotspots.

While no major prize-tagged fish were captured during Round 1, the competition generated plenty of excitement and kept anglers on the lookout for the next winning catch. The format proved that it truly is a game of skill, persistence and a little bit of luck, with many competitors spending countless hours chasing the target species across the state.

To reward participation, two lucky entrants took home Shimano Lucky Draw Prize Packs. Congratulations to Liam Dobson, winner of the October Lucky Draw, and Jarvis G. from Beachport, winner of the November Lucky Draw. Each received a Shimano prize pack valued at over $500.

Although the tagged prize fish remain uncaught, the hunt is far from over. With more tagged fish continuing to be released and additional opportunities on the horizon, anglers should stay tuned to RecFish SA’s website and social media channels for future rounds, bonus species announcements and their chance to reel in a winning fish.
