Let’s Go Fishing is South Australia’s biggest tagged fish competition, giving anglers the chance to catch fish worth up to $10,000. Throughout the season, RecFish SA releases tagged freshwater and saltwater species across multiple regions, with new prize fish added regularly to increase participants’ chances of winning. Each competition round focuses on specific target species and locations, supported by free fishing forums where experts share tips and local knowledge. In addition to major cash prizes of $10,000, $5,000 and $2,500, anglers can also win instant cash tags and monthly Shimano prize packs. Entry is free, making it an exciting opportunity for fishers of all skill levels to get involved.
Round 2 Recap
Round 2 of the Let’s Go Fishing SA competition has officially wrapped up, and what an incredible round it has been! Anglers from across South Australia embraced the challenge, travelling far and wide to chase tagged fish in some of the state’s most iconic freshwater and coastal fishing locations.
This round showcased the diversity of South Australian fishing, with anglers targeting everything from golden and silver perch in inland reservoirs to Australian salmon, bream and even instant-win tagged carp. Hundreds of instant-win carp prizes also added an exciting new element while supporting the removal of this invasive species.
Three lucky anglers claimed the major prizes. Kane Cross landed the $10,000 winning Australian salmon at Pub Lake, Robe, just two days after it was released, Geoff Rogers secured the $5,000 prize with a tagged salmon at Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, and Michael Ayres rounded out the podium with a $2,500 golden perch from Wellington on the River Murray.
The excitement didn’t stop there, with Shimano monthly prize packs awarded to Oliver Parham and Brandon Menadue simply for being registered in the competition.
