RecFish SA, the peak body for recreational fishing in SA, is seeking a motivated, organised and enthusiastic Administration Officer to support the organisation and coordinate our Reeling In Junior Anglers clinics.Key Responsibilities:• Provide day-to-day administrative support to the RecFish SA CEO.• Assist with BAS preparation, financial reports, accounts payable, bank reconciliations and payroll.• Coordinate programs to achieve annual clinic targets and remain within budget.About YouWe are looking for someone who is professional, reliable, highly organised and able to work independently. SA’s first recreational wreck in over 20 years complete! Watch to the end to see it sink!Thankyou to all involved including collaborating staff, Minister for environment and tourism Emily Bourke - Labor MLC, Minister for transport Joe Szakacs MP and the Premier for South Australia- Peter Malinauskas. This means a huge amount for the recreational fishing sector under Rhiannon Pearce MP and local MPs like Cheyne Rich MP.This project represents a huge collaboration between recreational stakeholders such as RecFish SA and SDFSA, the SA government and Maritime Constructions in Adelaide. Sinking a vessel takes huge preparation and best practice processes. Cleaning, stripping, contaminant removal and assessment, making safe dive access and EPA/DEW environmental surveying and regulatory work has been completed at break-neck speed in response to the SA algae bloom. 3 significant recreational access reefs/wrecks have now been completed alongside state government within a year, including the recent RecFish SA Wirrina and Nepean Bay modular reef deployments. There’s still also $9 million + of oyster bag and limestone rubble projects to be installed around the rest of the state- including Spencer gulf, West coast and Yorke Peninsula GSV to benefit marine communities. RecFish SA board members Barry Brown (deputy chair), Tom Tyczenko (secretary) and local West Adelaide board member Tyson Hausler headed out along side the SA SCUBA divers federation, Seawolves dive club, contractors, DIT/state government staff, media and more to watch the iconic vessel go down. RecFish SA will be exploring this vessel periodically with our remote robotic underwater vehicle, showcasing how colonisation is occurring, and what fish are calling this new wreck home.As with all new reefs completed recently, a 200m 12 month sanctuary zone exists around the structure, allowing vital biofouling, corals, sponges and prey species to establish. $200,000 available exclusively to SA recreational fishing clubs through Rhiannon Pearce MP and ORSR. Tag your club, and get in touch. Round 56 of the ORSR Active Clubs grants are open. RecFish SA is here to help you navigate this process. You’ve got until the 14th October, 2026 to apply. A notional allocation of $200,000 will be made available through an exclusive stream for recreational fishing clubs in round 56. This includes fishing gear, tech, promotion and training/equipment. $1500 to clubs with less than 100 members, and $3000 for clubs with 100 or more members. The SA Fly Fishing Association Volunteers: Without them, our state has no trout fishing opportunities! South Australia has some incredible rainbow and brown trout fisheries- where artisan fly tiers and adventurers alike navigate small streams and rivers in the Adelaide Hills- sometimes chest deep icy water- Just to experience one of these beautiful little fish. The species contributes heavily to the recreational fishing tourism economy in SA, creating regional travel and spend in tiny towns in the hills and north in the Broughton, traditionally seldom visited.We recently explored some of these tiny streams, walking away invigorated and full of drive to ensure the species is pragmatically managed, water quality and availability is assured and access to water bodies and fishing opportunities is explored deeply to keep this sport alive. @top fans ...

Next reef inbound! The MV Andrew Wilson is the next large-scale recreational fishing and diving site- scheduled to be complete before this summer. It will be sitting around 6km off Brighton, in approximately 20m of water, supporting reef and migratory fish species through additional structure, habitat and hard bottom- of which is scarce in Gulf St. Vincent. The vessel has been donated by Maritime Constructions, with the SA Government funding the project through the $165m joint state and federal HAB Support package. ...

We have some fish tagging projects in the pipeline!All tagging data will be used exclusively to support recreational fishing and improve outcomes for recreational fishers.Which fish species do you think should be prioritised for tagging right now? Let us know in the comments below.Fish tagging is important because it helps researchers understand where fish move, how quickly they grow, how long they survive and which habitats they rely on. Tag recaptures can also reveal fishing pressure, post-release survival and population trends. This information supports better management decisions and helps improve sustainable recreational fishing opportunities.Our new fish-tagging projects will launch in late spring.
